Light Aircraft Pilot Licence – LAPL(H)

Holders of a LAPL(H) licence will be able to act as Pilot in Command of single-engine helicopters with a maximum certificated take-off weight of 2000kg or less, carrying a maximum of 3 passengers (4 people in total on board).

— Requirements

A minimum of 40 hours’ flight time is required to complete the course. However, please allow additional flight time for budgeting purpose. For those with a PPL(A), this can be reduced by a maximum of 6 hours.
At least 35 of the 40 hours shall be flown on the type of helicopter which is being used for the skills test.
20 hours of dual flight instruction.
10 hours of supervised solo flight time. Including at least 5 hours of solo cross-country flight time with at least 1 cross-country flight of at least 150 km (80mnm), during which one full-stop landing at an aerodrome different from the aerodrome of departure shall be made.

Annual requirements for LAPL(H)

LAPL(H) holders are required to have completed the following in the last 12 months on type:
At least 6 hours of flying time as PIC(Pilot in Command), including 6 takeoffs, approaches and landings.
And
Refresher Training of at least 1 hour total flight time with an instructor.
Holders of the LAPL(H) who have not met the criteria above shall either:
Pass a Proficiency Check with an examiner on type before they are cleared to fly again.
Or
Perform the additional flight time or take-offs and landings, flying dual or solo under the supervision of an instructor, in order to fulfil the requirements above.
